Dear Fr. Dave, Deacon Steve, and the St. Thomas Parish Community,
Starting this year, Lent for Caroline and me will always be associated with the gratitude, awe, and sense of belonging we felt in your parish—it was like nothing we have ever experienced before. What you and your parishioners did was a sublime act of faith and solidarity. In a world with so many competing needs, you chose to stand with families in Ukraine through CRS. That choice speaks volumes about your hearts and your commitment to living the Gospel. Your compassion and unity is such an inspiration to both of us.
The spirit in which you gave—joyful, selfless, and deeply rooted in love—has been a light for all of us at CRS. It reminds us that hope is alive because of communities like yours. And that we are now honorary members of this wonderful community makes us incredibly proud!
This September, I had the privilege of meeting Tetiana Stawnychy, our partner Caritas National Director for Ukraine. I shared with her the story of your parish, your Lenten drive, and the faces behind this incredible witness: Fr. Dave, Deacon Steve, Jim and Sandie, and all of you who came together in solidarity. Tetiana was so moved by your generosity that she created a special Thanksgiving video to thank the St. Thomas Community:

Please know how deeply grateful we are for your faith, your leadership, and your love for those who suffer. This video is just a small token of our appreciation for all you have done.
Wishing you and your parish a blessed and joyful Thanksgiving!
With heartfelt thanks,
Chandreyee
