It is a NEW month, a NEW liturgical season, and maybe a “NEW us” as we enter into the Advent today in preparation for Christmas. It is a time of waiting, true, but especially a time to prepare our hearts and spirits to receive Jesus anew into our lives.

Waiting, even for good things, might not be always pleasant. We can feel impatient when we wait, especially if we do not know when things might occur. But waiting has its advantages: it makes us reflect deeply; it deepens the desire for something to happen; it makes us reexamine relationships and motivations for our wait; and it forces us to prepare. And as we prepare for Christ, love is likely to grow. Love grows with waiting.

When we are asked to wait for the coming of Christ during Advent, it is so that we have an opportunity to prepare by reflecting on the person we wait for, while we do good works that invite us to more and more love. Then we deepen into the desire for salvation and justice that Jesus will bring. Just think of how different this world would be if each person did good works for 4 weeks instead of frantically racing around shopping and complaining about the rush. A true Christmas spirit of love would grow.

Let us then be watchful and attentive to what in our hearts we consider is God’s desire for us; this way, we will be able to offer Jesus the fruit of our love. He alone can help us build a kingdom of peace and reconciliation.

Es un NUEVO mes, una NUEVA temporada litúrgica, y tal vez un "NUEVO nosotros" cuando entramos en el Adviento hoy en preparación para la Navidad. Es un tiempo de espera, cierto, pero especialmente un tiempo para preparar nuestros corazones y espíritus para recibir a Jesús nuevamente en nuestras vidas.

Esperar, incluso por cosas buenas, puede no ser siempre agradable. Podemos sentirnos impacientes cuando esperamos, especialmente si no sabemos cuándo pueden ocurrir cosas. Pero esperar tiene sus ventajas: nos hace reflexionar profundamente; profundiza el deseo de que algo suceda; nos hace reexaminar las relaciones y motivaciones para nuestra espera; y nos obliga a prepararnos. Y a medida que nos preparamos para Cristo, es probable que el amor crezca. El amor crece con la espera

Cuando se nos pide que esperemos la venida de Cristo durante el Adviento, es para que tengamos la oportunidad de prepararnos reflexionando sobre la persona que esperamos, mientras hacemos buenas obras que nos invitan a más y más amor. Luego profundizamos en el deseo de salvación y justicia que Jesús traerá. Solo piense en lo diferente que sería este mundo si cada persona hiciera buenos trabajos durante 4 semanas en lugar de correr frenéticamente por las compras y quejarse de la prisa. Crecería un verdadero espíritu navideño de amor.

Seamos entonces vigilantes y atentos a lo que en nuestros corazones consideramos es el deseo de Dios para nosotros; De esta manera, podremos ofrecerle a Jesús el fruto de nuestro amor. Él solo puede ayudarnos a construir un reino de paz y reconciliación.
